In Dreams

You used to put on romantic comedies at night.  You’d watch for a few minutes, and they’d lull you to sleep.  They always kept me awake, no matter how bad the plot and acting.  I had to see them through. 

 

Now, you’re gone, but I still watch the films, still let them guide me to sleep. 

 

When I dream, I find you—no matter how improbable, we always wind up together before morning.

Girl of My Dreams

Dear Girl of My Dreams,

If I keep sleeping 16 hours a day, I’ll lose my job, my friends, my house, my car, my dog and my health.

I used to leave milk and cookies out for Santa.

I’ve got dinner on the table, flowers, and a mix CD.
